In 1911 the "Königin Louise=Erholungsheim" in Försterei
was set up by an in Insterburg based organization, and in September
it was solemnly inaugurated,...
... where needy, weak and sickly children and adults
are able to enjoy
the benefaction of a longer stay in the forest and by the sea.
The property was provided by the state,
the building funds were procured completely by voluntary donations,
but 5000 Mk. from the city of Memel.
Since May 1916 this recreation home is Germany's northernmost convalescent home for warriors,
and it always houses about 50 people. The construction of a resting-hall
was arranged in 1917.
