Here once was the house which belonged to the merchant and shipowner Argelander, the father of the famous astronomer
Friedrich Wilhelm August Argelander, who was born in Memel on March 22nd, 1799.
The construction of the new post office building which is stately and executed in approximately gothic style towers at this place now. In its hall two oil paintings executed by the painter Stahl are for the memory of the former residents of the old house. In the large garden behind the post office often was Luise with her children. And some of the residual lime trees could talk about it.
