The estate is mentioned in documents from about 1850/60. It certainly existed before. At that time however the merchant
E. H. Müller was the owner of this site, and he carried on his business here.
Also the blacksmith
A. Tillot lived here. His smithy was just next-door.
About 1900 E. Beyer lived here where he operated the restaurant "Lindengarten".
In addition the store of Bluhm & Esp (Destillation-, Colonial-, Sämereien- und Düngerhandel) was mentioned here.
Few years later (according to the Memeler address register of 1909) Ernst Zander is mentioned here with his "Kolonial- & Materialwaren-Handlung". The restaurant "Lindengarten" now was operated by J. Legarth.
After the First World War was the "Handelscentrale GmbH Memel" here. Ernst Zander was possibly the owner, and the timber trader A. Rosenthal was mentioned, too. There isn't, however, any reference to a restaurant business.
According to this the shown "Zanders Restaurant und Weinstube" apparently existed only few years around 1910.
The businessman Ernst Zander died July 31, 1925 at the age of 48. His wife Hedwig, nee Heyde, and the children Bruno, Viktor and Luzie lived for some more years at the property of Alexanderstraße 12. Anyway, in 1935 Zander's wife with her daughter were residing in the Seilerstraße no 1.
