Within the years 1936-1939 several new storehouses were built on the quays. Of these the largest was the warehouse of the trading company "Lietukis". The main part of the building erected in ferroconcrete style was four-storied, the extension like a tower was even seven stories high. The building's length was 80 m, it was 20 m wide and the height of the tower equipped with an elevator was 29.6 m. Agricultural machinery and products, metals and other products, were stored in this dock warehouse -- Lithuanian: "Sandelis". These were distributed with help of then modernest handling devices or loaded on train freight cars. At lading ships with grain a turnover of 100 tons per hour was possible. In the second World War this warehouse was destroyed.
