According to a lithography by G. Waldhauer from the 2nd half of the 19th century.

The park at the baptist chapel arose from the municipal cemetery which already got out of service in 1820.

In 1841 the baptist community settled down in Memel, and built their chapel at the Neuer Park nearby the Luisengymnasium. The first preparations for the making were made in the late summer 1850. After several obstacles during the construction time, financial as well as by the municipal authorities could the church be inaugurated on October 12th, 1851.
