The flax scales on the bank of the Dange river. It was one of the largest and most valuable buildings in the city. Here the flax, which came from the interior of the country, was sorted and processed for the exportation. The flax scales was erected in 1856, thus after the Big Fire which happened on October 4th and 5th in 1854. It was heavily damaged during the WWII and it has been demolished later.
To the left is the opened Karlsbruecke and in the background the steeple of St. John's.
