After development of the new market (since 1820) followed the making of the at first wooden Karlsbrücke in 1825/26. By then the "Roerdanszsche" ferry connected the two banks of the Dange river. The bridge got its name from the third son of Friedrich Wilhelm III.
In 1908 the Karlsbrücke (here a look downstream) was placed in service, and was a modern electrically operated bascule bridge. |
